What a couple of weeks it has been. After completing my final university exam and officially resigning from my job as a primary school teacher, Sarah and I went away with some friends to the beachside town of Rosebud.
Located on the Mornington Peninsula, around an hour south of Melbourne, the town of Rosebud is a tourist-hotspot, with an array of accommodation choices for travellers on all budgets. Because we were travelling in a group, we chose to rent a house for a week. (If you want to check out the house we were in, click this link). The house was quite simple, with 3 rooms, a large kitchen and a decent sized living area. Best of all, it was only a minute's drive from the Peninsula Link Freeway and only a 5 minute walk to the beach!!!!!
Interestingly, our holiday succumbed to a number of 'non-holiday' events. On the first Saturday, my friend Dave and I disappeared to attend a Bucks Party in the city. On the Wednesday, Sarah and I drove back towards home to sign real estate contracts (WE SOLD OUR HOUSE!!!!!) and on the Thursday I had to work (even though I just resigned :))
Interruptions aside, Sarah and I made the most of our trip. Whilst I constantly played '500' with friends, Sarah read 'Beautiful Creatures' (the movie was amazing...it appears, however, that the book is very different!). We strolled to the beached, completed our workouts and tried to eat as healthily as possible!!
Whilst at the house, much entertainment was had on the trampoline in the backyard. Bounce battles, flips, 360s and wrestling matches led to bumps, bruises and fits of laughter.
The highlight of the week was Sarah's ride in a yellow Lamborghini. I had organised the drive throughwww.sportscardrive.com.au for Sarah's birthday before we had organised this holiday. Coincidentally, the company operated out of Arthur's Seat, only a short drive from Rosebud - PERFECT!
The car looked amazing! We could have sat there all day just looking at it. However, Sarah got to experience the car from the inside. She was taken on a 15 minute joyride around the hills of Arthur's Seat with a professional driver. When she returned, she was on cloud nine! She raved about the car for hours following the event and is certain that she will own one in the future (who would like to donate to that cause haha!
The day after, we headed down to the Cape Shanck Lighthouse and spent the day scrambling through the rock pools along Pebble Beach. We found monstrous seaweed, massive pools and miniature crabs. On the way back up the hill, we were lucky enough to spot an echidna underneath the stairs, who seemed quite comfortable being around people. After a couple of happy snaps, we headed back to the house.
On the Tuesday, we headed to the Peninsula Hot Springs with our friends Sara and Jonathan and their twin boys. We went to the public bathing area and it was HEAVENLY. We rested in thermal pools whilst rain cooled our heads. We dove into ice cold plunge pools before entering steam rooms and saunas. We enjoyed thermal spring showers and reflexology walks. To top it off...because we arrived before 9am we got a massive discount (WINS ALL ROUND!!!). I cannot recommend this place highly enough...it was freaking brilliant!!!!!!!!! And for only $15 (before 9am) it is definitely money well spent!
Sarah and Sara headed back to the Springs for massages later in the afternoon and returned with positive reports :)
As our trip came to its inevitable end, we spend time reading, resting and playing cards. Whilst we didn't get much sleep, we returned to our home feeling refreshed, invigorated and positive in the choice we have made to travel on a long-term basis!!!
Rosebud = awesome :) :)
Happy travels to all,
(PS - A HUGE thank you to our friend Sara for organising the entire trip!!!!)
